US Open Champion-Joey Graybeal, Tennessee

Center Valley, PA Joey Graybeal pulls out two-shot win in first major of 2016. The 2016 US Open presented by the Coca-Cola Bottling Co. of Lehigh Valley came to a dramatic conclusion on Sunday, as Joey Graybeal held a one-shot lead for the final four holes to claim the title.

Graybeal, (hometown: Bristol, TN) entered the final round on Putt U’s Red Course tied with Danny McCaslin. McCaslin (Holly Springs, NC) took the lead on the first hole of the final round, and then held it for twelve more holes. But Graybeal turned the tide by scoring a hole-in-one on the par-5 14th as McCaslin settled for a 3. Graybeal matched McCaslin over the final three holes, then carded a 3 on the 18th to finish with a six-round total of 250. Graybeal’s scoring average of 41.6 is the highest winning average in US Open history. McCaslin’s desperation second shot to force a tie was odd the mark, as he shot a 4 on the final hole of the tournament to settle for a total of 252 and second place.
